Mark commenced karate in 1981 as a junior and proceeded to represent Western Australia (1987 - 1996) and Australia (1990 - 1997) in Kumite. He is a former State and National weight and open weight champion. At an international level, Mark is the currently the most successful athlete to represent Australia at World Championship competitions winning 2 bronze medals, 1 silver medal and 1 gold medal. In addition, Mark has won numerous medals at other international championships.
Mark (3rd Dan and NCAS Level 1) commenced his coaching role with the Western Australian Karate Federation in 2002. In 2007 he was appointed a member of the National Coaching Panel. Prior to his involvement with Western Australia, Mark was involved with the development of South Australia (1998 - 2002) conducting seminars and as a mentor coach.
Mark is currently Head of Faculty - Health and Physical Education at Mater Dei College in Edgewater.
